Hi guys,

Complete newbie to bikes and have acquired an '06 YBR125. Good so far, but as other posters have commented, weedy headlight.

At this stage don't have the time to go into separate lights or upping the power, so am just looking for a "quick fix" replacement bulb before the nights draw in.

I've seen some 35/35 halogen ones on Ebay, and they say they are BA20D (395) type. I've taken my existing bulb out and none of the (extensive) markings contain "BA20D" or "395". Can anyone confirm or deny that this is the correct bulb type (I won't hold you to it)?

Thanks in advance..

Martin

Hi mate.

I've been using these bulbs on my YBR for about 2 months now, no problems at all.

I've just bought another today, for spares. They're VERY bright for 35w and you can easily see ahead of you when riding at night.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I have an '09 YBR, but as far as I know, the previous models use the same fitting.

Thanks for your reply, I managed to confirm the bulb type via another route. Saw the ones you mention on eBay, but bought a similar clear one instead. I think as long as it's halogen it should be an improvement.

The other problem was that the headlight "glass" (plastic) looked slightly "milky" which wasn't helping light transmittal. Having trawled around, there are various plastic polishing potions and lotions, but I took it off and gave it a damn good wash with washing up liquid. It's come up a treat. There was what looked like a fine white deposit on the inside of the glass. Don't know whether this can be caused by bulbs blowing or whatever. Moral is, a simple clean often works wonders.

Anyway, hoping for a better view of the road from now on....

Yeah? I'll have to polish mine up!

I've just remembered that the ones I have in my bike now are Xenons. Unfortunately, I can't find where I bought them from!

  • 3 months later...

Another possibility: Change the standard bilux to H4-bilux.

I have read a few owner's postings on the web -> great improvement, but the generator seems to have tiny problems with the new bulbs.

Just switching the bulbs without the reflector caused the melting of the reflector on one owners YBR 125. If I remember correctly he used some »ultra bright« bulbs with more (obviously too much) watts.

Greetings, Martin
