At the risk of sounding like a drongo...where do the throttle cables go for my new Mikuni VM carbs? I know they go through the top but aren't sure where they 'attach' to, do you thread it through the needle retainer plate or something?

Remove the slide and needle from the carb

Note how the cable retainer washer sits with its bent down tab sitting in the cable anchor point, now remove this washer.

feed the cable through the carb top and the spring, use your finger and thumb to compress the spring into the carb top.

now feed the cable nipple into the keyhole slot and slide it up to the narrow end where it sits in a recess.

now replace the washer with its bent tab into the keyhole slot, this tab will prevent the cable end from detaching from the slide.

Allow the spring down to the washer inside the slide.

Job done...see the picture, trhe green dot is where the cable will be fixed.
