I am selling my bike, and have just received an email, from a guy. I will post his emails, tell me what you think.....

He Wrote -

Hello,

I saw your advert and i'm interested in purchasing

your 1995 YAMAHA YZF, with the Price:£2,495

I will want you to get back to me with the following

infos.if it is still available.

1.It's present condition

2.An updated pics{if any}

3.Your last offer.

I will make payment with a certified cheque

payable in UK if it is still available.Hope to hear

from you in earnest.

I replied with pictures etc, and then he wrote -

Dave,

Thanks for your correspondence, for the picture and

for the briefing on your bike.Am very much interested

in purchasing the Bike.I will take it for £2,450 as i

have to restore the rev counter.Am okay with that

price.Consider the Bike already sold to me.I would

have love to come down and inspect it but am presently

away to Holland on a seminar. As soon as i saw your

advertised for sale,i had to get across to one of my

business associates in UK telling him i've gotten the

Bike i'm searching for and that he should make my

funds {£6,000}available in payment of some fuel

equipments i supplied to him.He assured me he would

make the payments (cheque) available.

I would instruct him to get the cheque across to

you (ASAP) and as soon as you receive the payments i

would want you to get it cashed. As soon as you are

through with this you would need to deduct your amount

of (£2,45) from the total of (£6,000) and send the

balance of (£3,550) to my reputable shipper via

western union money transfer who would be coming over

for the pickup of the Bike and my other consignments

and also handle the necessary transfer titles on my

behalf once the cheque is cleared.

So i will need your Full Name,Mailimg Address And

Phone Number so i can send it to him {my associate} to

send the payment right away.My shipper (Today's

Shipping) would be responsible for the pick up.Hoping

to hear from you.Thanks

Mike

I replied confirming what he wanted me to do, and asked for his name, contact details etc and he wrote -

Dave,

Your email is acknowledged. The remaining balance

will be wire across to my shipper via western union as

they need to be prepaid before coming down for the

pickup of the bike.I will provide you with the

shipper's details as soon as you receive the

cheque.Hope to hear from you.

Mike

I got a bit suspicious, do did a bit of digging, and found this page.

http://www.thamesweirproject.co.uk/forums/...t=ST&f=2&t=2421

Same guy?

He never gave me any other name apart from Mike, and the email address he used was [email protected]

I emailed him back, saying that if he still wanted the bike I would only accept cash. Guess what, no replies from the fooker.

Just wanted to let everyone know, so nobody falls into the trap.

Well if they are buying something worth £1000 and send you a £6000 Check, .. then you send them the £5000 back, .. they make £5000 of your cash.

gotta be so careful nowa days :(

Y'know it's funny I have had any since yesterday.

Straight to the point usually does the trick!!!

Got ya, but the cheque wont hav cleared if they dont hav the funds so u dont send it till it clears surely??

No but as the other website said, "DAY 1 it goes in to your account

DAY 2 it goes in to a checking account

DAY 3 it goes to there account ( this is when some banks let you draw the money therefor E.G. you would send 4500 back to the sender of the check REAL MONEY

DAY 4 the check bounces leaves there account

DAY 5 bouncing check hits your account oooohhhh but you have already drawn on it therefor

YOU owe the bank the ammount drawn probably bout £5000 ooppps then you may face fraundelent charges..."

Although I guess you would have to be Feckin stupid to send anything back to them before checking the money is in your bank, (or does it show up as credited before it clears?? ) .. I don't know, .. im lost now too :)

it's just dumb which ever way you look at it :)
