I am a new member have had yams for 35 years have started to renovate an Rd 250 what is the coating on engine cases is it powder coating

its paint. i stripped mine (using nitromors) and polished them, they come up well.

some folk have mentioned using plasticote spray ,for barbiques.it supposed to work well.

PJ1 black satin is the way to go, no primer required. I never seen a better paint to resist fuel and heat.

I cried when the main factory was burned down ( well not quite!) as they stopped making My yamaha silver for the xs cases. they only make black now!!

The stuff yambits sells is crap, it runs and you have to bake it forever to get the petrol resistance ( and it still pools silver if you spill on it)
