Posted July 19, 200915 yr Hi Gents! I would like to change the factory fitted H4 12V 55/60W bulb with a H4 12V 80/100W one in my 2008 Dragstar 650. The original is not too bright. Also looking to get passing lights and a GPS. Will the electrical system will take the extra load? Thank you
July 20, 200915 yr Yes, yes and yes. I have the brighter bulb and a TomTom Rider2 linked in to mine. I know someone else who has all three and then some. I also run heated grips and a CB radio off mine. However, it's worth getting a battery optimiser or similar charging system to keep things topped up.

The final question is: is it legal to fit an 80/100W bulb? On the box says: "for offroad use only"...
July 20, 200915 yr If is says that, then no it's not legal. TBH I don't know. But I do see plenty of cars with FECKIN' BRIGHT headlights, so you might just need to swap the bulbs out once a year for MOT.

July 20, 200915 yr Really? No MOT? Wow.... didn't know that. Errrr...... fuses....... Maybe...... Don't know. I didn't, but that doesn't mean anything

July 20, 200915 yr I just swapped the bulb. That was well over a year ago, I think, and I've not had a problem to date.

August 31, 200915 yr You can do a straight change of bulbs but by increasing the Wattage, you are more likely to burn out the switch to the lights. You will also note that the cables are warmer.

Thank you Hi just fitted one of these babies to my cat : Philips Motovision H4 Motorcycle Bulb What an amazing difference Mick
September 1, 200915 yr i was thinking of fitting one of these to my dt. its a 6 volt system but the headlamp puts out 11-14 v at driving speed. the old headlamp lens assembly will accept one, and the light harness will hook to the bulb, but, will I fry my wireing, magneto, switch etc? i want brighter lamp, but i refuse to do anything that will damage the rest of the bike as parts would be hard to find.
