at what revs is it carbonising the plug?

if you do a plug chop the electrode on the plug should look like an overcooked cornflake (chocolatey brown)

no its just dry black

this indicates continuous rich running

make sure all the jets and passages in the carb are clean, maybe go down a jet size

says in my haynes manual that the DT50 MX 1981 onwards had a #88 main jet as stock, if you are running any modifications or have removed any it may be nescessary to change the jet accordingly
