Just bought a 79 DT250. Gas cap has a valve where hose should be connected. Mine did not have this hose. What is it for and where does it go to. Thanks.
Its just a vent hose and is only connected to the gas cap, the other end just exits down behind the instruments or somewhere convenient. It shouldnt have a valve connected...should be open to atmosphere so you dont pull vacuum in the tank

the valve is a breather to let air into the tank as the petrol comes out to avoid causing a vacum. the pipe is just an extension of the valve and stops any dirt falling into the tank. the pipe hangs over the handlebars and under the clocks, or if there is a hole in the main central nut holding the steering stem on stick it in there. ;)
