YB100Racer
Hey there =) The names Alex. 18 years old and addicted to two strokes. After a set of new tyres on my CZ inspired new-found confidence in my riding, I've been practicing my cornering for hours on end, Chugging round and round on roundabouts with increasing speed. But I realised that the CZ was a TERRIBLY bad bike for handling when I was introduced to the YB100. My friend realised I was in a mess once my CZ kicked the bucket (about 2 weeks ago), and decided to give me the YB100 as long as I paid him £250 back over time. Obviously I agreed =) Frame is a little rusty, the paint job however, Is immaculate! The seat has two rips, But other than that, she's a beauty. Took her for her first run in my ownership and decided to see what she's really made out of, And she did nothing but surprise me. The front end popped up on me and dropped back as I clicked to second and it took a second to realise that I just pulled a wheelie with ease... (A feat I have NEVER accomplished before, And still scared of) At first, I thought the bike had been geared down, Sacrificing its top end.... So I took her down the longest road in the town and got 68mph (GPS recorded) with my head down. It was at this point that I knew, This was going to be more than just the average YB, I was going to treat her like a fully fledged racer and take her out of her commuter clothes =) It is upon this wish, that I am going to convert her to a 100cc, full fairing café racer. Strictly no overbores... This is STAYING as 100cc. The fairings will be matching to the existing colours. Burgandy, and gold. This is roughly what I would like her to look similar to: Anyone think I'm over ambitious? =P By the way, The YB's name is Charlotte

YB100Racer
Thanks for the welcome all =) it just makes me rather angry these days with the lads cruising around on Yamaha aerox 100's and all the latest in small 2-strokes and dont get me wrong, I know they're quicker than the two-strokes of yesteryear... But I want to show them what classic strokers can do out there, especially seeing as how my bike gets virtually NO respect from what WERE my fellow riders... =(
YB100Racer
Right, Over the next week or so, I'm going to be converting the bike to 12v as the lighting on this bike is as dismal as a candle in the wind. the halogen 6v bulbs are hardly any better. So once I upgrade to 12v, I'll be using LED's as much as I can. I was also thinking of converting the bike from Points ignition, To Capcative Discharge. Does anyone have any experience on the subject?
Moderator Airhead Posted June 28, 2009 Moderator Share Posted June 28, 2009 Before you spend lots of money on 12v conversion...Will a 12v battery fit ?

Moderator Airhead Posted June 28, 2009 Moderator Share Posted June 28, 2009 so youre going to get your stator rewound and replace all the bulbs and ignition coil...Its gonna be expensive!
YB100Racer
so youre going to get your stator rewound and replace all the bulbs and ignition coil...Its gonna be expensive! Going to be using a Zener diode to control the voltage... but keeping the standard charging system in there. With me thrashing the bike as I do, Charging only after 3500rpm isnt a problem for me =P

Haha, Looks like I was told a load of crap then. A local bike garage owner round here told me that all it would take is A zener diode, New lights, new battery and new coil. He mentioned that as long as a 12v battery is supplying the voltage, Then the generator will top the charge up, it just wont do it till later in the rev range, Around 3 1/2 thousand... I do a LOT of night time riding =) roads are quieter... Makes for better fast-road riding =) (Can you ride fast on a YB100? lol) I'll do a bit more research first... But still sounds like sound logic to me... I'll let everyone know how I get on, Then write a mini How-To =)
