The other day, My YB100 was running as usual, All of a sudden... THWACK! Sharp shooting pain in my ankle as the bike cut out, I pulled over to inspect. Turns out my generator flywheel bolt had flown off the crank, and broken out of the casing leaving my nicely chromed Yamaha cover, In a bent and tattered state as well as snapping the thread out of the casing where the cover sat. Pushed it home and to no surprise, The woodruff key had snapped. Managed to get a new one, then fitted it, Tightened it as much as I can (With the help of someone holding the back brake and sitting on it whilst it's in gear) Gave it a kick, And it started, Although feeble. It then cut out, I realised this was my mistake as the fuel tap was off. Turned it back on, Kicked it over and it failed to start for three kicks, Then it idled rather weakly with a nasty squaling sound coming from the generator, A loud backfire followed and the flywheel started doing its previous trick of acting to its own accord. Any idea why it snapped yet another one? the magneto wasnt loose after tightening, Not even wobbling... AT ALL!...

Right before this problem started, I noticed a sharp performance drop in fourth gear only whilst the others remained unfazed, Third reaching 45 revving high, Still wheelied in first, but go into fourth and the only way to describe it is... well... Flat, Would slowly pick up to 50mph given a minute on the flat... But I used to achieve 68mph on the speedo with head down.

Got to wait till monday till I get more woodruff keys... Ordered two.

Anyone got any ideas here? =(

In other news... My Beloved CZ was stolen and smashed. Found it, but not worth repairing. =( Why would people do such a thing?

Hi - Sorry to hear about the CZ personally I would like to use the little scroats who do this sort of stuff as sea anchors rather than use Foamy's Jawa!

As to the Woodruff key - they have a habit of doing this if you don't get the flywheel on absolutely correctly - the WK has a tendency to get pushed up at the back when you fit the flywheel. Always good to have some spare keys as they don't cost much!

Don't think your problem in 4th is related though - sounds more like a carb/ignition issue. Worth checking that there was no damage to the points when your WK died though.

Love the piccy - looks totally different to mine!!!

Keep us up to date on progress.

:D

What piccy lol I havent uploaded any piccys yet, I only posted a pic of what I'm AIMING for =P

By the way, I wouldnt have thought carb/ignition problems would cause performance loss in only ONE gear... Would it?

sorry to hear about the CZ mate, those things usually go on forever... :( (dont s'pose your willing to part with the forks?, not sure if they would fit my 640 though...)

as mentioned above, make sure the WK isnt being pushed up at the back, i remember having this problem getting the flywheel onto one of my model aircraft, took a few goes to get it right.

You can have the whole bike for 25 quid with tax and MOT, still got V5 lol
