Posted June 8, 200915 yr Hey all, I'm new here, I've chopped and bobbed a few Honda cb's in the past and have decided to do my first xs bobber. It is currently living life as a 1981 xs400 Special and soon to be chopped. I'm relatively new to Yamaha's so I will surely have many inquiries. Firstly, does anyone know who may make a hardtail bobber style frame for an xs400? I've found a few for the more common xs650, but they're all around $1000! Any references would be great! Thanks!
June 8, 200915 yr I don't think there are rigid frames available. A sawzal a mig welder and a good eye ball can fix anything
June 8, 200915 yr Author HA...yeah that's what I've done in the past to hardtail my CB chops, may have to go that route again. But I've seen a lot of xs650 hardtail frames and am surprised not to be able to find someone willing to make one for a 400. Not to mention that I have a nice Lincoln MIG welder that I've been using for frame mods, but I keep hearing that I SHOULDN'T be making structural mods without TIG welding them, I suppose due to penetration depths.
