dtr 125 03 electrics

hi, ive got a dtr 125 03, when i bought it the cdi was not giving a spark, so i wired up a 05 cdi no joy(i was getting a spark when i kicked it but not when i bumped it which i thought was strange. so i bought the same as the original cdi a 3rm-20 which is also full power cdi.im getting a spark when i kick it and i is trying to start. but when i push the bike in gear it doesnt give a spark, just cant get my head round this. im starting to think there is a problem with maybe the coil or rectifier or god forbit the magnito.what do u think would cause this. also does anyone know the minimum wiring required to run a dtr with power valve??? i have no batt on it but dont think that matters, seens as the magneto gives power
