luisinsa
Hi Guys, I recently bought Yamaha genuine rings. Could anyone please tell me which one is the top ring? Which is the top side of each? The dark side or the side that is also dark but with a silver edge? Thanks in advance. Luis in South Africa (luisinsa)
Ryan09
The writting on the rings has to face upwards and i dont think it matters which one goes top or bottom,
Moderator Airhead Posted June 2, 2009 Moderator Share Posted June 2, 2009 The writting on the rings has to face upwards and i dont think it matters which one goes top or bottom, And you will see a chamfer at the ends that locates around the locating pegs in the grooves. TylerP
Normally the silver edged ring is a top ring. One may be thinner than the other. If so,hold the piston up to light and see if the grooves are the same width. Put the ring in the correct groove that way. Markings are near the ring gap and as mentioned, face upward.
