Hi, the setting is the points should just open (break) @ 1.8mm btdc. To measure 1.8mm you will need a dial guage & stand you can not get an accurate reading any other way, if the timming is incorrectly set you can suffer from either a hole in piston, no spark or general bad performance .... If you want to know the method on correct adjustment just ask ! Regards Jim
