alexi Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 I have Yamaha YB100 two stroke model 2004. although the bike is in god condition. but one day when I was offroad at the speed of 100 suddenly my bike engine siezed in the middle of the road. when the engine got cooled it started again. I took my bike to technitian who said that your oil pump stoped working and due to over heat in cylinder head your engine seized. I changed the cylinder head. Now after changing it still my bike gets hot at the speed of 60. I have noticed that cylinder head is now again giving voice like some thing got loosed in cylinder chamber. I again took it to the technician who said that add a bit oil in the gas tank (Petrol tank). but problem is still there. afterwards technician said now you have to change the cylinder and cylinder head at the same than your bike will be alright. Please guide me what should I do. I love my bike.people say sell it but i want to keep it in its genuine condition., Alex

If you dont wish to fix the pump add oil to the fuel tank at the ratio of 20:1 . With an engine seize the piston & cylinder stand a good chance of being damaged which may be fixed by boring the cylinder to a larger size & fitting a larger piston & ring set to suit the larger bore, this damage is most likley you engine noise. Regards Jim

JimR Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Dear Jim thanx for your help. I think I have to change the head nd the cylinder. Regards Alex Hi Alex, just strip the cylinder off & see if there is any damage ( I guess there will be) and I would guess there will be no need to replace the head unless it has a warpage problem Regards Jim
JimR Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Ok i'll see to it Hi Alex, let us know how you get on ! Regards Jim

alexi Posted May 29, 2009 Author Posted May 29, 2009 Hi, reference to my yamaha cylinder problem I have noticed some thing strange and that is I did not put oil in the side tank and its indication appered on the panel (Red Light Glowed) means oil is finished in the side tank, yet I was still mixing oil with petrol in the main tank. what I noticed is that as soon as the side tank oil finished my bike showed some improvement and worked better then before. no sign of siezing or hoting up. that was very surprising. Than I added a bit oil in the side tank and for my surprise engine again started giving problem. I dont understand what on earth is going with the motorcycle. I talked to the mechanic and he said that you must change the cylinder and cylinder head even though it sounds good to you. Now within two days I will change the thing and let you know what comes best.............lol Regards Alex

If the bike siezes when running only on the tank/pump it would indicate that the pump needs to be bled (small screw with a red washer) from the pump until all air is removed. If the bike has locked up/siezed you may need to replace/bore the cylinder and piston but I would guess the cylinder head will be fine. I would guess some bits have been lost in translation ! Regards Jim
alexi Posted May 29, 2009 Author Posted May 29, 2009 Dear Jim, You are right Jim, But here in our country mechanic dont want to work on things rather like readymade. And the worse thing is this Yamaha does not provide any service facility here. Dawood Yamaha is responsible for yamaha service and parts availability but they dont put intrust init. The main problem is this that mechanics are not cooperating and due to this Im facing so much problem.unlike honda. and this is a setback of yamaha company. believe me. Yamaha is not maintaining its standard Alex

alexi Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 Hi, I am back after long assesment o my bike Yamaha YB 100 Issue : Cylider and piston over heating and seizing As I was having problem with my bike that it got seized at high speed and that I was advised by the technician that you have to change the cylinder and the piston. Some thing stranged happened. I took my bike to another technician as my bike sudenly started getting over and fuel starts dropping through the engine tube. The mechanic took out the carburator and fixed it and cleaned it. My bike stopped getting over heat and there was no case of piston head seizing or over heating. It was some thing like a miricle. the bike is now working excellent. One thing more I was using Caltex oil but I changed the brand and used 'yamaha lube' it also showed better than best result. Im still observing the engine. its working good right now. Alex
