dtr 125 03 wont start, aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrr

hi, just bought a dtr 125 03 field bike, when i bought it , it wouldnt start. i tested to see if there was a spark and there wasnt. so i won a 05 cdi on ebay and wired it up. ive got it spaking when i kick it. ive replaced plug. cleaned carb and air filter. just haven non of it. ive even tried easy start just to get it going the first time, no luck. tried bumping it loads. when im kicking it over smoke is coming from the exhaust, so someting is happening, but its not firing up. im banging my head against the wall. just cant think what else it could be. cdi is producing a good spark but i cant help thinking maybe not good enough. please help. it wasgaraged for 3 years.

i havnt wired up the power valve but i dont think its position would effect starting?????
