Pie
Greetings, I'm brand new to bikes and brand new to this forum, so Hi there all! Got my CBT around 3 months ago and had my YBR 125 (just under 3 years old) for around 2 months. Had a few issues with sticky and occasionally slipping gears, but looking around that appears to be normalish. My question today is about what I can only describe as a 'clattering' noise coming I think from clutch/gearbox. When stood still there is nothing loose and no noise when reving the engine. I hear it when riding in gear with little to no throttle or during gear changes. I plan to get it serviced in a week or so, but I want to know if I should stop riding it until after it's looked at, or if I'm worrying over nothing. Many thanks. Moderator Airhead Posted May 11, 2009 Moderator Share Posted May 11, 2009 Hi and welcome to the forum, Have you lubed the chain and checked / set the tension (slack)??
Pie
Many thanks for your reply. I think you're spot-on... the chain is very loose... This gives me an excuse to get the spanners out. Thanks again. Pie

Pie Dont forget you do need to have some slack, I dont know how much, that is for you to find out (a manual) or ask on here but I would guess at around 1.5" at the centre of the chain until you find out the correct figure, remember better slack than tight. Sorry, but im not too sure on 1.5", but i think it was more around beteen 25mm and 35mm in the book..
