hey Greg, I recently restored my shocks on 76 DT400and it sounds impossible butnif you lower the shock to the lowest setting You should be able to compress the spring enogh with the help of a screwdriver to get the keeper off of the eye! hope that helps.

Need Help-

Can anyone tell me how to remove the Coil Spring from my 1978 Yamaha XT500?

Looking to Freshen them up with some Gloss paint for my Restoration project.

Thanks for any advice.

Greg

When you put the shocks back together use 'jublie clips' auto coolant water hose clamps as device's to compress the springs I have used three on each spring before. it worked ok for me.
