Hi guys, im new to the forum and have a couple of questions.

1st I was riding home from work the other day and my speedo started making a bad whine noise. Then the next day it started bouncing really bad to were I cant tell what my speed is

What could it be?

2nd Can it be fixed or would a speedo from a 1980 xs400 work?

have you tried pulling the speedo drive gear and re-packing it with grease? could the cable itself need oiling?

Yes I repacked the drive gear and oiled the cable. You can actually feel a stronger vibration from the speedo, and if you ride it at 15-20mph and stick your ear by it, it is coming directly from the speedo.

Is it possible to get into the speedo?
