christoph21
Hey guys. I just threw new carbs in my 81 xs400SH and the bike runs amazing now. I also fitted a 2 into 1 exhaust which came off a 1977 xs400. However, when I rev the bike up to 5000rpm, there's some little pops out of the exhaust when i let the throttle down. The bike didn't do this before the new carbs and new exhaust. Does this relate to running to lean in the carbs or what? Do I even need to worry about it all? Thoughts? Cheers! steve m
Won`t hurt to do a plug check, see if it`s running weak or rich, popping is more than likley caused by the exhaust sucking air in somewhere..
Ttaskmaster
Also, as it's not new, check the exhaust for holes. These or any gaps in the fitting (anywhere along the line, including your carbs) could also allow air to be sucked back in to make the popping. If the noise gets worse, ie starts to go BANG, then your holes are getting worse.
Moderator Airhead Posted April 22, 2009 Moderator Share Posted April 22, 2009 Check for loose connections on the exhaust and carb manifolds...
