drprunty
78 xs400. What kind of sprocket combo can I use to get my bike up to higher highway speeds and not sacrafice to much of the low end? I would like to get it up to 90 to 100....enough so im able to pass traffic without redlining it. I have stock set up (16/39) and 60 is about all I can squeeze. Follyworks
I too have a 78 xs400, and it also has the stock sprockets on it. Stock everything, in fact, with the sole exception of pod air filters. And with my 200 lbs on it, it hits redline somewhere just past 90. Hate to say it, but if you're only squeezing a top speed of 60 out of it, you've got some other problem then just sprocket choice. Moderator drewpy Posted April 15, 2009 Moderator Share Posted April 15, 2009 I'm running 17/41. did have 17/38 and it red lined in top at 100. my current set up lowers revs by 500, but doesn't accerlerate as well!!
