nigeln
Hello to you all. I have just purchased a YB100 to use as a work bike. The bike wont go over 45mph,i thought these were good for around 60-65mph. I have looked at the baffel and gave it a clean up took the head off and looked at the piston, it really wasnt coked up at all I amnow thinking it maybe a carb issue. Any ideas or advice greatly appreciated. Cheers
wild foamy
does it bog down when you open the throttle, or overheat? need a bit more info on how it runs before we can diagnose the problem. my DT50 will do 45 but i have had to modify the engine and add new sprockets, so 45 for a vintage 100 may not be that bad

Cheers Hi Nigel, The YB100 was only good for about 60 max ..... to ensure the bike is in top fettle do the following :- Set the ignition timming to 1.8mm btdc, set the minimum oil pomp stroke to .04 mm or less. Remove the silencer and remove carbon deposits until the silencer weighs less than 1kg, check the exhaust port for carbon deposits !! I could go on but I would guess there will be more helpfull posts than this ! Regards Jim

You will need to check and set/adjust the following: Carb settings Oil pump settings Points setting(check points condition) Baffle condition Air cleaner Needle valve setting I would also replace the spark plug (NGK B7HS) they do have a tendency to eat them! You should also check out the clutch - could be why its not getting up to speed - worth a look. If you need the tech settings I will post them for you. Good luck - let us know how you get on. :D :D

Cheers Nigel Hi nigel, you can pick up a whole silencer on ebay for less than £50 which if fitted will save you having to decoke it and a new baffle in the package !
