78 xs400. I possibly have a starter solenoid/relay prob. With it hooked up I push the the starter button and I get nothing, not even a click. Fuses are good and battery is charged. I have power to the solenoid/relay (blue/wht....red/wht. ) I can cross the main terminals with a screwdriver and the motor turns over. Call me stupid, but would this a defective solenoid/relay?

I would say its the solinoid, just make sure you are getting power from the starter button as they have a habit of coming off and all the connections are good (the smaller wire ones as you have checked the thick ones)

It could be the solenoid. However, as said above, the starter switches have a tendancy to stop making a good connection, especially if water has gotten inside and corroded the terminals.
