March 19, 200916 yr Moderator Hello all, I need to remove the left side covers so I can remove the starter clutch from my '81 XS400. Do I need to drain the engine oil first? Thank you! Mark if you leave the bike on the main stand, you can get away with out draining the oil. It will pee out when on the side stand ( i know from experience )
