I am changing the handlebars on my 1986 FJ1200. When I removed the throttle cable housing, I realized that one of the cables is frayed and about to break. The cable that is frayed is the one towards the rear of the bike. Is this considered the push cable? I just want to make sure that I purchase the right one. Thanks for any replies.

I think they only come as a set, mate.

Might as well replace them both, anyway.

If one's worn, the other might not be far behind.
