i dont know if mine has one of not.. theres a spare port thats not got anything connected but its 5 pin.. most of them on ebay have 4.. where abouts would i find this on a 1987 fzr400 ?

It should be next to the starter relay.

The part number is 47X-81960-A2-00 (the same part from 1986 to 1990)

i had to replace mine as my battery wasnt charging and found it to be under the fuel tank, just to let you know as well i had to get one off of an rd500 and it works fine hope it helps
