Posted February 14, 200916 yr I have a 1981 XS850s that I purchased about a year ago. It was repainted and customized and I was told it was originally a Midnight Special. How can I tell from the VIN# if it is indeed a midnight Special or just a special???

How can I tell from the VIN# if it is indeed a midnight Special or just a special??? because the codes on the VIN tells you what model it is!! is the question" my VIN number is XXXXXX can anyone tell me what type it is please?" BTW to the forum
February 14, 200916 yr Author Sorry, I suppose that would help, my vin starts with 4R2-xxxxxx , I have tried searching online for a registry of some type to find out but came up with nothing.
