Posted February 10, 200916 yr Hi, Finally got my puncture fixed, when I put the rear wheel back in, when pushing apart the brake pads to slide in the brake disk, one of the shims fell out. It was rusted to f**k, and practically crumbling. I took both pads out and they were knackered, I've ordered a new set of brake pads thinking they would come with shims, but they didn't. Ebay isn't helping much, any idea where I can get new or salvaged shims from?
February 10, 200916 yr Moderator If youre struggling, why not buy them from your local Yamaha shop, after all its only a 1998 bike!
February 10, 200916 yr I tried to get new shims for my 2004 Fazer Thou`s rear brake,(managed to lose one in the garage) but apparentley Yamaha dont list them ! so been running the rear brake shimless for the last 3 years and I have not had a problem.
