m3-paul
hi guys and gals! heres another quick question for ya's. does anyone know what the average sports bike (eg r6 etc) will beat, in a midrange race on a motorway/track against your run of the mill scooby, evo, super type car? does anyone have any good hyper/supercar scalps under their belts? on the flipside has anyone on a low power machine beat a relitivly powerful car and chuckled their arses off when they got home? i have a yzf750 sp and don't wanna get beaten by sum crappy porker do i! Most decent bikes will give a quick car a run for their money and generally win in a straight sprint. I have a BMW M3 and my little old TZR250 feels quicker from the off but at 60mph the M3 will start pulling and then completely destroy the bike as the acceleration is relentless. There are so many factors involved if you get into 'chases'. Was the car driver really trying is the main one. I might have a muck about with the odd bike in the car but I won't go into silly figures. So, does the bike claim victory due to my lack of balls (or wanting to keep my license and not kill anyone). At the nurburgring I pass pretty much every bike that goes out but on the fast straights they sail passed me even though I am giving the car everything but in the corners they just can't compete - unless of course they have some kind of racing experiance, but in the main they are just your normal joe public wanting some fun on the track much like on the road. shed hermit
had a nice blast with a smug porsche 911 git showing of to his blonde passenger one night. i was two-up on a suzi 400 slingshot. the look on his face 5 miles down the road when he passed me standing having a fag was good. throw in a good road with a bit of traffic and the car wont stand a chance. Gas up - Let's Go!
I've a TTR600E, with knobbly enduro tires on it, totally setup for off road - from the lights, up to around 40 mph it will beat anything on 4 wheels and most things on 2. It gives up at 70mph, and wont go a single mph faster!! Brilliant when you get some idiot trying to impress his GF (why are they always blonde?) and you pull up on a spluttering single that looks like it's been through hell, pissed on the Devil, and come back again...... only to leave them in your wake... It does go through the tires in about 800 miles doing this though - so I tend to take it easy. I had an Escort RS2000 4x4, one of the last of the new shape (1995 on an N) - this was just the normaly asperated 2L Pinto engine (not the Cosworth), through the twisty roads of the Lakes I would quite often leave the fast cars for dead M3's, Kangaroo Shitters (sorry Subaru), Turbo this, turbo that (use to work at Sellafield - loads of money there, lots of fast cars, all racing home - like wacky races every day!). So power isn't the key to sucess, how you drive, how you balance the car and how the car is balanced are much more important factors. Not to mention taking your brain out first, and having little or no respect for human life. (I was young and stupid)
Ttaskmaster
Track and Motorway are two very different roads. A lot of it is down to the dickhead (who thinks he's) in control of the vehicle. Flat out, bikes move faster but cars overall have a higher top speed, it seems. I'm talking actual top speed as things like lack of fairing greatly affect what you can and cannot do. I've 'beaten' cars on a 125 Dragstar down the motorway simply because of the way I rode and how I forced the other vehicle's hand. Everyone else beat me in a Mini-Moto Race evening simply because they were happy to risk (and actually cause) a crash by bashing me aside as they passed. In a straight line you'll win just about every time, I haven't come across any car yet that could take on the R1, when it comes to the corners a good driver with a good car will win. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=5DoFEV0c1jc&...feature=related http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=RwNSDEX84H8&...feature=related http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=OteDZBuisfM&...feature=related
Ttaskmaster
If it's simply speed on the straight you want, pick a Hayabusa. Incidentally, a Rocket III is faster on the 0-10, 20, 30, 40 and 50mph marks than a 'Busa.

Ttaskmaster
but no one has ever reached 60, on account of there's never enough fuel in the tank!!! True, but inaccurate. In fact, they're so busy trying to hang on for dear life as they accelerate towards 60 in less than 3 seconds, that not enough blood reaches the brain and they cannot remember to change up into 2nd gear!!!
