TIM999
Hi Everyone. A date for your diary for 2009 is April 5th for the Nottinghamshire Motorcycle Easter Egg Run, hosted for the third consecutive year by Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service. Event starts from Goose Fair Site (same as last year) and travels to Mansfield Fire Station where there is free tea and coffee etc. Start time is 0930hrs for a 1000hrs ride-off. Distance approx 14 miles. ALL WELCOME, WHATEVER YOU RIDE. All Eggs and donations for Egg run in aid of disadvantaged children in Nottinghamshire. There is also a plan to raise a bit of money for the Air Ambulance (to be confirmed). Static displays from local bike firms, helmet removal display, advice on road safety and safety in the home (but only if you want it - we're not going to ram it down yer throat). Any questions please contact me at [email protected] It's the easiest thing to do, just turn up on the day. No forms to fill in, registration to complete or anything like that. The access to 'The Forest' (or Goose Fair site as a lot of people refer to it) is at the back of the grassy area as if you were to look at Goose Fair from the front. Go along the Boulevard right to the end, turn right on each of the two funny islands so you are starting to head up the hill on Mansfield Road towards the city, and then immediately turn right approximately 100 metres ahead (where there is a large white mausoleum at the cemetery) and drop down the slope into the car park at the back of goose fair. There's a cafe there if you fancy a cuppa whilst waiting for the ride-off, but this is nothing to do with the Brigade as such, they just open up for us on a Sunday morning so tea and coffee can be fed intravenously). The free coffee and tea is at Mansfield Station. You will be handed a leaflet on the day (before the ride-off) which explains the route, shows a map and includes a disclaimer (sorry the legal stuff about 'but the Brigade isn't responsible if you ride like an idiot' etc etc), and reminding people what the day is all about, having a bit of fun and helping the local kids. If you want to come and say hello on the day, I'm usually the idiot with a red Mohican and big ears stuck to my lid, with a white rabbit on my fuel tank that sings and moves its ears about. The other mad thing on the bike will be the missus lol. I ride an R1 and usually pace the ride-off at the front. I also do a helmet removal demonstration part way through the morning to explain myths and rumours about what to do if you come across a biker who's had a crash and got breathing difficulties. Anyway, drop me a line if you want more info, look in all the bike shops for posters nearer the time (and if you want a couple to put up in a pub or works place give me a shout), and hope to see you there. Please tell everyone you know who has a bike. They don't have to live in Nottingham, we welcome anybody.
