I hope you guys can give me some advice. I am buying a 03 plate DT125 and want to de-restrict but my local shop is telling me that you cannot open up the power valve on this, they have said I can put a DEP exhaust on but that it wont make that much difference. Any suggestions?

I know nothing about DT125's I'm afraid.

There is a specialist for that vehicle here...he'll advise you.

BTW...RU Welsh?

That's fine by me....as long as you're not one of those Cardiff Boneheads!

Even the earlier DT models came with the option of the electric start. The DT you are about to buy may not even have a servo for the power valve. If this is the case just open the valve up and it will be open at all times. Low down power will suffer but will rev better at higher revs.

If the bike does have a servo fitted then you might also need to look at the wiring as the powervalve will open at about 6k but then close again as you rev more.

The Standard exhausts sometimes have a washer welded to the inside of them just a few inches infront of the exhaust port. But removing this or putting on a dep pipe will improve performance. A dep Pipe will make the bike rev quicker and increase back pressure. It may lack a little power at low revs again but 2 stroke off-roaders are all about top end high reving power.

tark i spoke to yamaha about electric start and it wasnt an option to have electric start you can make them electric by taking the starter and bits off a certain model and will straight on yamaha didnt give the option

do you live in Autralia or something cause it was never an option to my knowledge.

and DEP gives you more low down grunt and more top end power on the newer models.
