mongo76
My 2001 R6 won't start, battery had gone flat as a fart though non use so charged it with trickle charger (nothing different to usual proceedure). Went to use bike in morning and imobiliser won't disengage (Meta 357 or 351 can't remember which!) but all other electrics seem to work fine (lights, horn, neutral light, etc....) but not go on starter button and won't even bump off. I've since removed the alarm unit and all wireing thinking that was the problem and still won't start, same problem!? Any ideas anyone?
dan holloway
is it turning over when you try to start it? have you got a spark? to test this you take the plug output it in the plug cap hold it by the cap and hold it against the engine and see if you get a spark you can do that with all of them. let me know the answer to these questions. No starter button is dead, doesn't do anything, think I may have to bridge one of the alarm wires. Are they built into the loom as standard do you know? steve m
I think it would have been better to have left the alarm on the bike,, but ha ho ,,,,, the Meta has an imboliser fitted as well, have you found the bridge and replaced it or have you just taken all the wiring out ?? Is all the wiring black ? just a long shot,,,,,,, but did you check the kill switch ?? also the side stand and clutch switchs ?
mongo76
No starter button is dead, doesn't do anything, think I may have to bridge one of the alarm wires. Are they built into the loom as standard do you know? Is the imobiliser unit seperate from the main alarm control box? Does it just kill ignition or is it worked into fuel pump, etc.... The wireing is all black, I've taken the loom out at all the shrink tube joins (I've marked them so I can reattach), and off the -ve battery lead. What's confused me is where the shrink tube joins are the rest goes into the loom and looks standard factory fit. The kill switch is set to on (everyone does it I know ) the stand switch is fine, and as far as I'm aware there is no clutch switch on the R6 (like there is on GSXR's). If I need to bridge any of the wires which should I be looking for?
steve m
Sorry don`t know a lot about the Meta type alarms,, I have read about the problems that people have had with them after having a flat battery, i beleve you have to reimput the alarm code, but not sure. I have fitted all my bikes with alarms in the past and would usualy cut the ign wire in the loom and take a lead to the alarm unit then one back to loom, you may have to go into the loom to see if this has been done, if so rejoin the wire and see if it works. It has a twin cricuit immobilistion,,, not sure what that means ?? but like you say it could involve the fuel pump and ECU..
