I just got this xs500 and I am planing on making a cafe racer out of it. BUt first things first I need help with the vin # to make sure of the actual year and model . The vin # is 371-2109801 it is stamped on the neck . I was told it was a 1975 xs500.any help would be appreciated .Thanks Matt

371 vin starting digits were for the '75 xs500b. it should also have spoke wheels if they are the originals.

So I've had enough of this bike. It's hard as hell to find parts for it. So I'm going to part it out If anyone is interested in parts let me know. I just had the carbs rebuilt they are the Kei Hein carbs ,Thanks Matt

I do have the original pan but the foam has been modified to a cafe style seat just needs recovering.
