SAT 15th NOV 2008 - 3PM TIL VERY LATE - THE GOLDEN FLEECE, LOUTH

Think you can still save it?

Celebrate the glory years, and remind us all how fast you were...

A note from the TZR website:

Celebrating a time when racing an LC on a tiny budget was a first step to international stardom for riders of the caliber of Niall MacKenzie and others, the Marlboro Clubmans championship oppitomised all that was great about motorcycle racing in the 1980's.

A few die hards who cut their racing teeth in quarter-litre production racing are still hard at it - take a look at Mike Edwards for example - having had a career that took him from 250 proddy racing at 3-Sisters to a works Harley at Daytona, via British Championships, the NW200, Macau and World Endurance, he is still enjoying racing at a high level in the IHRO and European Singles championships.

Meanwhile, other similarly gifted riders from the 80's have made recent returns to the grids and their successes have proved that despite their advancing years, the term "once fast - always fast" holds true. Curt Langan and Charlie Corner are fine examples of this - call them mid-life crisis if you like, but if recent rumours of a comeback by Gordon Allott are true….(a man who Fred Clark once labelled as "The hardest rider in Pro-am"),...then more than a few eyebrows, not to mention glasses, will be raised.

This years event falls on Saturday Nov 15th, as usual at The Golden Fleece in Louth for 3pm onwards - all are welcome. Blasts from the pasts such as Gary Noel, Clifton Tabbiner, Dale Robinson, Chris Stokes, Kevin Mawdsley, Dave Grigson and John Corrin are already confirmed, along with a very strong contingent from the Mallory Mafia - Jim Clow, Andy Muggleton, Dave Butler, and Steve Bevington, so it promises to be a good do...

Does anyone remember a bloke called Dave Woolley (or Wooley - can't remember!)? He was an absolute legend around Cadwell on a 350YPVS in club races. Must be about 20 years ago now though! Just one of those names that stick in your head!

The only one I can think you might mean is Dave Woollams.

He sometimes puts in an appearance at the Louth reunion.

It's tomorrow - I'm getting scared already...

Mike.
