Hi does anyone know how much new engine casings are or is it cheaper to rechrome!!!

what do you think??

I know a little of the process, though I suspect it's simpler to just get new casings.

Chrome and similar electroplate coatings are very thin and filling any deep scratches would take a lot of layering.

looks like new casings it is then its like trying to find hens teeth getting used ones thanks Ttaskmaster

as a guide for you just had cissy bar & rack re chromed ( cost £50) front exhaust down pipe (£40) both were not badly pitted -ian

If the pitting is not bad, then you can get one of those mobile guys who electro-plates metal pits with in-situ silver & gold plating (usually car badges and the like).

Some of them will do chrome.

I only know of one guy, but he's in Inverness, preparing to move to France (if he hasn't already)!!

Deeply pitted surfaces will require many passes, though.

I imagine your engine casings, being so close to the torrent of grit from the road surface, will be somewhat knackered?
