Dear All,

On my 2001 T Max the front brake has developed uneven braking, at slow speed it grabs and releases very badly. This is the second time this has happened and about 2 months ago I had the disc replaced with a new Yamaha disc and pads and the problem was 95% solved. But it is back. My local bike mechanics say maybe the caliper is pulling unevenly and distorting the disc, or maybe the wheel is not true. (the head bearings adjustment is fine). But replacing any of these parts will be very costly when we are not sure they are at fault.

Can anyone shed any light on this problem?

Many thanks.

Only with my very bright tactical torch, I'm afraid.

Either DIY or have you local mechanic-blokey methodically strip down and check the braking system.

Check it thoroughly. Could be you have a knackered brake hose, a partially seized piston or blown seal... many things.

Just remember to replace the cheapest parts first!!
