Harpster
I have tried several different adhesives to secure the grips on my FJ1200, but can't find one that holds tight. I've tried Scott grip glue, even good old weatherstrip adhesive, but after WEEKS I can still move the grips. What works for you?
Guest Exupnutta
I think you need to buy some new grips fella. Washing up liquid is all that is needed.

What works for you? you may find that if the grips are not OEM (esp the rigid plastic ones) they wont stick no mater what you do. I agree with both washing up liquid & hairspray (I've used both) but I found hair spray the better as what you need is a lube to get the grip on then that lube to disperse then the grip 'shrinks' to the bar .... glues tend to put up a barrier between the grip & bar so if the glue breaks down there is no adhesion between the bar & grip so it comes off or swivels round... your problem I guess. Years ago I used swafega which worked ok but needed a day or two to 'dry' which was ok building the bikes from crates ready for sale but no good for use the same day ! regards Jim
AlanFJ
I've always used soapy water when fitting grips and that's always worked for me. Once the soapy water has dried the grips hold firm.
Ttaskmaster
Superglue for me. Make sure the inside of the grips and the outside of the bars (ie, the surfaces to be bonded) are completely clear and clean. Using a Stanley knife (or an X-Acto blade if in the US) to scrape the bars works very well. Use feck-loads of glue and wipe clean any overflow. Be very careful not to get any glue between the throttle collar and the right bar, else you'll stick your throttle open/closed!!!
Gas up - Let's Go!
I've heard hairspray works well, never needed it myself......maybe a long time ago!!! Used this method for years on my mountain bike, nice and slippy to get the grip on, then dries like glue. never used it on the Motorbike though Superglue for me. Yep, me too - maybe not so much thought
Ttaskmaster
Yep, me too - maybe not so much thought Well, you don't want it dripping off, but none of this 'small dab' nonsense. Big, bold lines of glue. Manly squeezings of the tube and all that. You want the grips to stay put, remember!!

bramleybodger
hi as for glue for the grips try using car paint laquer, spray it into the grip itself to get them on then when it dries it bonds it together..hope this helps
littledan
i've always put lockwire around the grips just make sure they don't slip like they do on motorcross bikes.
