Diver58
Hi All, I am due to pick up my brand new FZ1 in a couple of weeks. The dealer says there is no runing in period for the engine. Any one know if this is true?
yoda
I would do as it says in the book. Failing that, don't rev it hard or drive it hard but never load the engine by keeping it in high gear. Make sure you have the oil changed.
Diver58
Thanks Yoda, The dealer advice did sound a bit suspect but I know some if not all car engines are run in 'on the bed' nowadays
fifetojo
Thanks Yoda, The dealer advice did sound a bit suspect but I know some if not all car engines are run in 'on the bed' nowadays 600miles buddy, then the first service. Thats pretty shit advice. Is it a yamaha dealer, & are you getting the 600 mile service free? You should do. Should'nt cost you much more that £35 for the parts i.e oil filter etc. Oh, and try not to rev it above 7k or have the engine labour in high gears. Morph
I ran my bike in for 600 miles as the manual says - bloody boring, but as the bike is now 2 years old and runs as sweet as a nut, I'm glad I did. As fifetojo says, the first service should only cost you the service parts. Take the time to run the bike in properly - You will reap the rewards, believe me!!
