Hi can anyone help me? yesterday my rev counter on my 95 FZR600R 4JH started playing up. when i am stood still on the bike the rev counter shoots up to 8000 revs and back to zero.

It does this all the time. so it sits at zero for 2 seconds then upto 8000 revs and back down again. the ignition is in the on position with the engine off and it does it, or if the engine is running it does it.

so when im riding along i have no rev counter apart from it flicking up and down...

any help would be much appreciated.

hey man. yeah mine does that too. apparently, after a little search around on here, i found it to be an indicator that i have a fuel circuit problem. but i found that if i switch to reserve it stop doing it. so what the problem is exactly is a mystery to me cos my bike runs perfectly on either switch setting. if u find out exactly wat ur problem is please be sure to let me know!

I sorted my problem out....what it was was the fuel pump. i had replaced the air filter and had not connected the fuel pump cable back together properly.

all i did was clean the connections and and put the connector block together again. this sorted it out immediatly. the rev counter acts as warning. i did not think a bike this old would do that, but thats what i was told...
