Having done some research I still can't decide if I should get some new tyres for my new bike. Some say the standard nylon ones are crap yet others say the new model tyres are better.

My local dealer wants £170 to supply and fit Michelin pilots

I have no plans to go flying around on my bike (it is a 125 with an inexperienced rider after all ) but I do want to be as safe as possible - probably shouldn't ride a bike I guess

As I'm a newbie to all this lark, I would appreciate some advice

Dont bother with them. Your dealer is having a laugh if he wants that!

my new rear tire cost me £40 and it was £17 to fit it to the bike.

You dont need to be spending that much on tires, you are better buying them yourself and taking them to a dealer to fit.
