Hi, all

I just got a 1978 TY250E. It runs fine, but it is a bit noisy. So, I took out the removable part of the tail pipe to find that the felt disks are so saturated with burned oil that they are almost solid.

Replacing them with new felt disks is just a way of having the same problem in a while.

So, has anyone tried any other material, such as steel wool, to replace those felt disks?

Thanks

Fern

Got my answer by trying. Steel wool works better than the glass fibre pads that were there originally.

For anyone thinking about the same thing, I had to try different "packing" of the steel wool. Too lose doesn't do much.

The steel wool I used is for scraping waxed hardwood floor, quite coarse.
