Can anyone please help me! I have a 97 Xtz 660 which will not start with the button but i can start it if i put direct power from the battery to the starter relay. The sidestand switch will stop the engine if i put it down when in gear. I dont know where to look next?

Fuse?

Kill switch?

Faulty start switch?

I assume you have warning lights when you turn on the ignition?

I'd just get the Avo out and work backwards from the starter solenoid.

As far as i can tell the kill switch works fine

all the ignition lights come on all the lights work

the main fuse is ok

starter switch seems ok to

Hi

Check the wiring diagram thoroughly (if you have one) for an additional relay in the starter circuit - my Kwak had one which had suffered from water ingress - a quick clean up with some w&d solved the problem.

Good luck
