Sold my YZF750 and got a Thunderace.

Bought as a bit of a basket case, bought a lot of parts from Ebay, repaired and resprayed most of them!

Biggest expense was the stainless headers with no exup valve.

Second biggest cost was the paint aerosols from Halfords.

Still needs a decent end can, but no hurry now its roadworthy. :D

Heres where is all started

And where i`m up to so far.

Just an update, never liked the fat, wide rear end on the Ace, so modifying a YZF750 rear end to fit.

Almost there apart from a few niggly jobs and spraying it.

Got a lot more YZF750 stuff to fit, forks, swingarm and front fairing.

Had to use the Ace battery box, as the Ace battery is taller than the YZF750.

Then plastic welded this to the YZF750 undertray.

All the wirings done, had to move the fuse box, extend and move the starter relay and reroute the negative battery lead.

Rewired the rear light and number plate light.

Had to modify the YZF750 seat to fit, just chopped the bottom front tab off the Ace seat and fitted it to the YZF750 seat, just needs tidying.

Made an exhaust hanger bracket from 2mm ally, just needs a little reshaping and finishing.

Only issue is the shock reservoir, had to move it under the frame, it might catch the hugger when i test ride it, see what happens.

Just needs the seat cowl spraying, then its roadworthy. :D

Nooooooo, the R1 tail doesn`t suit the shape of the Ace, looks horrible in my opinion.

Its been a while, been busy working on the house, but managed a little more on the bike.

Finally got around to fitting the YZF750 bodywork.

Had to jiggle a few brackets, but all on.

Just needs tidying and respraying.

Cheers mate.

Looking at something similar to the old paint job, either red, white and black or yellow, white and black, with the Yamaha speedblocks again.

Or might go with something along the lines of the red, white and blue OW01 scheme.

I like the OW01 scheme better!! recon it would go better with that yzf fairing and would look proper retro!!
