Posted July 20, 200816 yr Hey all, I picked up an old (but fun!) 1980 XT250 from a guy in town a few weeks ago. It's been running so-so: difficulty starting, stalling at lights, high idle. These all sound like carb issues to me, so I took the thing apart last night to clean out my jets. Problem: I unscrewed the pilot jet, but now can't remember how many screws out it was originally. My Clymers manual just states "Pre-set" under the offending column. I have it about two screws out -- but that's from my experience as a Honda CT90 guy. I don't think that there are many of these on the road (and off) these days, but surely some similar Yamaha bikes used this Mikuni carb... Any help would be appreciated. Regards, Max Provo, UT
July 20, 200816 yr according to the spec book i've got, 2 +half turns out & idle at 1200rpm. That's for English models but it might help.
