just bought a 1978 yamaha dt175 and seems to run fine. However everytime i stop runnin it, tons of gas pours out of the overflow tube hanging from the carb. How do i fix this?

Its likely to be the carburetor float height setting, it should be set to 21mm

i've had a problem similar to yours. I would say its an adjustment to your floats , or your float valve is getting stuck. You may just need to replace your float valve.

hi mate just seen your question ,you have a float problem ,either its not set correctly or its sticking ,could also have a hole in it but thats rare..regards martin :D

Thanks I have the same problem. I'm waiting for a manual for the bike. The float height is 21mm, how is this measured? With the float hanging down or with the needle just touching the float?

Measure wit the float just touching the needle and measure to the carb flange, not the gasket that sits thereon
