Posted June 8, 200816 yr I recently purchased a 1982 XS400J Maxim. The original non o-ring chain is in place (530 size). Does anyone know if a 530 o-ring would work? An o-ring chain is about 1.5mm wider than the standard chain. I don't have an old chain lying around to see if it would work. Thanks.

It will be fine as long as the width has clearence from any chain cover. You should consider changing the sprockets for new ones as well.
