Posted June 2, 200816 yr Hi everyone, new here. I've just turned sixteen and I'm hoping to get some sort of motorbike. I'm not too keen on the scooters and I was looking for something like a TZR 50. You may think that *oh God, here's a typical teen just looking for something to thrash about and impress his mates* No, I'm not! Would it be a good choice? I've posted a thread in the wanted section also, but- I'm in West Bridgford, Nottingham. Is there anywhere I could purchase one from? If you're selling one of know of someone who is, I'd appreciate it if someone could let me know. Thanks, Yamaha_Newbe.
June 3, 200816 yr Welcome to the Forum. Are you looking for new or used (assuming they are still available new)? They are a good choice for a beginner. I have no idea what the big attraction to Scooters. If I was only able to ride a 50, no way would I go for a scooter. It would be a bike every time. Im glad you are choosing Yamaha. Have you considered an old RD50? DT50? Proper cool bikes, and can be had for little money now I would expect. They would also be a good way to start to learn bike maintenance and repair etc. Whatever you get, ride safely, and stay upright!

(And everyone else ) Yeah, it's either a scooter twist and go or a TZR 50, I think I'll go with the TZR 50! Anyway, I think I'm going to have to get one second hand because I don't think they make them anymore and I wouldn't think they are any out there new. Having said that, they are quite hard to get hold of, I'm in Nottingham and I can't find any at all close to where I live. I wouldn't like to pay for one and get it delivered without seeing it first. If anyone knows of anything, please give me a shout! Thanks everyone. PS. I think I'll be ok for the height, but I don't want to be stretching for the bars, what you think? I'll try and sit on one asap! Sorry if I'm going on about it, it's just that I'd be gutted if I'm too small PPS! I think I've found one close(ish) to Nottingham, TZR 50, I think the guy said he'll end the auction for a £1,000 however, the bike looks like it's been fallen off etc (as you can see!) Click on the forth picture at the bottom- is the arm bent? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/yamaha-TZR50-2003_W0...1QQcmdZViewItem I've found a clean black one, but it's in Ipswich! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2004-YAMAHA-TZR-50-B...1QQcmdZViewItem I suppose I'm not in much of a rush, but they seem quite hard to find.

Reply back im 16 and i live in ireland and i managed to get an 04 tzr for 600euro but the insure made the difference(800euro a year). there fast bikes and i dont regret getting one. i had a problem once but it was just because of a fauty spark plug wire which caused the spark plug to stop working. i got it fixed and its been working good for a few months. there also fast bikes. it was indicating 67mph(107km/h) on the clock and all i did was buy a new standard chain and sprocket. i think i would hit 70mph with a performance exhaust. so if you want a good yamaha and your only 16 go for the tzr50
