ok guys i posted up a problem a while back about my sr500 not being able to rev past like 3k rpms. well the bike is finally with me again and i have to report it still has that same problem. one thing that i noticed though when i pulled the spark plug it was cover in soot. well i am guessing the bike is running rich. so now my question is how do i go about remedying this problem cause i really dont want to take it to a shop. useful suggestions would help me out greatly. thanks.

Check your air filter. Make sure the air box is not filled with debris and the filter material is not clogged.
