  1. Thanks Slice. I didn't see the two bolts. I have removed them but the spindle still won't budge. I have used WD as well. I'm using a 17mm socket but it seems a bit loose but a 16mm socket won't fit. It;s pissing me off now. Can't face using public transport.

  2. I tried taking my front wheel off this morning and couldn't do it. I took my fork protectors off and then there is a 17mm nut that won't budge. I also tried knocking the spindle through and failed at that. I don't want to damage it using too much force. I've watched some videos on youtube but all the bikes forks are different and theres no videos specific to my WR.

  3. Blimey Grouchey. On my older bikes which had a tube fitted and when I had a puncture I used to patch/repair them no trouble at all.

All you need is a couple of tyre levers and a bicycle puncture kit from Halfords and away you go.

I thought you needed a tyre machine to get the tyre off and I didn't think a punctre kit would be strong enough to hold a motorbike inner tube.

  4. Finished wok today and went to my bike to find the front tyre was flat. Really pissed off because of all the inconvenience it will cause me. I'll get up earlier for work to catch the bus now. It will be Tuesday by the time I get a new inner tube delivered and then I have to get it fitted. I will have to take the wheel off myself and take it to a garage. I've only just got the chain and sprockets sorted, which I was really pleased with. I got a gold chain and it looks the business. I really hope the curse hasn't come back to haunt me.

  5. Today I got new a new chain and sprockets set fitted. I decided to spend a bit more this time on a better quality one (£50). It looks the part and you can tell the difference in quality just by looking at it. Anyway as you all know I have bad experiences in the past with garages who are incompetent, dishonest and greedy. Anyway took my bike to a garage half a mile up the road, the guy has been there since 1974 so that was a good start. Everything went fine he did the job and had my bike ready when he said he would. When I picked the bike up he spent some time with me giving me advice and it turns out I have been adjusting my chain wrong! He explained to me when I tighten it up before I check the slack of the chain I need to sit on the bike first. I didn't know that when I sit on the bike the chain tightens! So after all this time I know what I have been doing wrong.

  6. I tried the more expensive heavy duty ones and the one that come on the bike new was crap. I'll buy another good quality one this time spending more money but I doubt it will make a difference. It must be how I'm riding it.

  7. Didn't want to start a new thread because there is loads of related posts already but...............

I don't understand why the chains on 125's don't last me. I have done under 5000 miles and I need a new chain and sprockets set. People all say that that can't be right and I should be getting over 10K miles before needing a new one. The same thing happened on my XT and now it's happening on my WR. I do ride the bike hard but I always lube it and look after it not obsessively but I don't neglect it. What am I doing wrong?

  8. That's nice of you all. If every member contributed £2 I get a top of the range alarm.

I totally forgot about alarms. I got a decent one for about £35 for the XT but do I really want to start playing with the electrics on my bike? Dont think i do.

  9. Yes John they work like a grenade, the pin needs to be pulled to activate it. I keep my bike in my garden it has 4 heavy duty chains, 2 disc locks and 2 d locks. It is pretty secure and it's right under my bedroom window. My neighbours keep a listen/look out as well. I was thinking of fixing it to the bike and the wall or something so when the bike gets moved it will set it off.

  10. This one is really loud. I will easily hear it. I keep my bike in the garden because I don't have a garage so it is just a bit of extra security.

  11. These guys have been following me about and making me feel uneasy. I'm sure they want to drag me in the bushes and have their way with me. To feel a bit safer I have bought a rape alarm.

Only joking. I saw somewhere ages ago (probably on here) that rigging a rape alarm to your bike makes a good little security device. I managed to get one from somewhere but lost it. I found it yesterday at the back of some drawers so I'm going to rig it up to my bike. It will wake me up if it goes off. They're a great cost effective form of security. You can even probably get one for free.

  12. Yep not even done 6k miles. It must be definitely something to do with 125's. I had this problem with my old bike. I thought it was me but then I always made sure I cleaned and lubed the chain and it still happens.

Depends if the middle of middle England is somewhere near somewhere? er?

Your oooop norf somewhere but give the folks a clue?

    Bradford.

  13. It should of sent alarm bells ringing when they refused a credit/debit card payment. If you pay by card you are protected, that's why they wouldn't take one. I hope you get it sorted. good luck.
