£1200 sounds about right if your selling private. Your best off selling private through bike trader or eBay because selling or p/x to a dealer you will Only get a fraction of its true price. You will probably get £600-£800 p/x or selling to a dealer.

I will look for some new ones. I only took them off because they were completely useless. Will the fittings be universal or will I have to get specific ones that match the model of my bike? If they are standard for my bike they will be exactly the same as the old ones.

The mirrors on my bike were totally useless and didn't work one bit, they were more of a hinderence than an aid so I took them off. Will I need to put them back on for an M.O.T?

Also is it illegal not to have them?

When I first got her I was really disappointed how slow she was because in the past if had a few 2 stroke crossers, but I've got used to the 4 stroke now, it has definitely grown on me. I planned on getting an RS or equivelant but am having second thoughts now.

I have two disc locks one for each wheel and three chain and locks. I put a chian each around the wheels and the other around the monoshock. I also have an alarm. Some people think I am being over the top but if anything it deters them or slows them down. The main thing to remember is to always make sure your machine is chained to an object such as a lampost or metal fence/railing.

I've often thought about getting a classic/vintage bike that is totally knackered and restoring it bit by bit to its former glory, in my living room.

I live in a city but on the outskirts there are plenty of different woodlands and country tracks to be getting on with. I'm thinking of putting some new tyres on my bike which will be more suited to the woods etc.

As some of you may know from my previous thread and other mentions the speedo on my bike has packed in. The speedo is digital and I have just realised it has my overall milage stored on it.

What am I going to do now when my insurance etc ask for my milage? Is it going to make things a very complicated for me for example if I decide to sell the bike?

If I could have any bike at this moment in time I would have a Ducati Desmosedici to satisfy my need for speed, and a BMW F 650 GS for the trailbiker in me.

What is seen as the Roll's Royce of motorbikes, and the Ferrari of motorcycles?

Hi Grover, welcome to the forum. I have an Xt 125 which is a YBR but with an off road exterior. My Haynes manual has a YBR on the front and most of the pictures are of a YBR. It really annoys me because there is only about 5-10% of a page dedicated to an XT and it hardly shows any pictures.

That's lucky it didn't snap just as you started your journey. When my clutch cable snapped the other week it got me thinking about what I would do if my bike broke down if I was miles away from home. Basically I would be screwed, so I checked my insurance policy and I have free RAC breakdown cover.

Thanks guys, it's just got a few minor faults. Mostly cosmetic with rusty screws and other rusty parts. It has nothing major wrong. I love been able to just go off road as well lol. I'm always going through snickets and other off road tracks to avoid traffic etc. I went to the woods the other day which was good as well.

So it's a bit like the human brain, theres loads of power but only a certain percentage gets used lol. I think a 600cc would suit me. It would be cheaper on the insurance as well. I rarely get my 125 over 40 so it would be a waste having a very powerful superbike. I say this now but I suppose once I've had a bigger bike for a while I will want an even bigger one.

I've been thinking once I get my full licence would I really need a 1200cc bike? Some of the two stroke 125's are capable of 100m.p.h. I imagine if I got a 500cc or 600cc it would be powerful and fast enough for my needs. What is the difference if any for example a 600cc and a 1000cc. I know the sizes are bigger but is it really noticable and can you feel a lot of difference?

I recently bought a full set of brand new bolts for my bike because a lot are rusty and old. I have noticed a fair few nuts and bolts are just stuck in the thread regardless of how many times I attempt to unscrew them. Please can some one tell me how to remove these threaded screws and bolts? Thanks.

I have an XT 125 and my speedo is knackered, after reading this thread I checked my number plate bulb and that is knackered as well.

You definitely need a cover if your bike is going to be exposed to the elements. I bought mine from Argos a few months ago for £20 and it is sound. It is a bit thin, but it is waterproof and does the job.
