I do like those rims.

It would be interesting to see the difference between solid discs and drilled and grooved.

I noticed quite a difference from standard to high carbon content wavy discs on my bike.

Update so far. Still waiting for my engine as conrods yet to arrive. Also waiting for spraypainter to get a gap to do my tank etc.

Been doing the plastics with black polish. Comes out great but its a bugger to work with..I suggest gloves.

Plastics on the rear end. What a battle getting bottom monoshock pin in with this mudguard in the way. Everything full of grease finger marks here.

Electrics going on.

Lovely clocks on these bikes.

2014-06-30153843_zps57e00558.jpg

Metal Polished forks some more..still could use some work but its hard job getting them perfect by hand.

2014-07-01142209_zpsae9a1e98.jpg

Footrest/exhaust hangers got same treatment.

2014-07-01142101_zps14d94f74.jpg

Horn button missing but have ordered a kit from Yambits which includes new button and spring

2014-07-01142131_zps667d62a1.jpg

Would like to get these switch units looking better..would welcome any ideas.

2014-07-01142318_zpsb5c06f56.jpg

Got a scuff mark on rev counter when bike fell over during stripping and clocks took bit of a bang. Tried light sanding and black polish but still showing. Hope internals ok...fingers crossed.

2014-07-01142351_zps1806ceb3.jpg

New tail light lens fitted.

2014-07-01142243_zps62cded66.jpg

Sidestand was jumping back soon as bike weight was lifted which could cause bike to end up on its side. Don`t know why but it had 2 springs on so removed one..now has nice action.

2014-07-01142151_zpsbd280c64.jpg

Rear wheel on.

2014-07-01142044_zpsd6634cb6.jpg

Made mistake of metal polishing ignition switch which dulled the on/off/ignition decals. Damn.

Oh..wanted to mention I will be slightly deviating from original with the engine..this is the paint scheme going to try go for. Original is completely black. Think some silver in there looks great.

Couldnt resist putting on unpainted tank etc..to see how its gonna look. Getting a little irritated waiting for engine and spraypainter.

Cleaned up control cables and radiator hoses & clamps. Got no idea how stretched these cables might be as I`ve never operated the bike.

Mc, I see in the photos you have the old brake pads and you say THEY ARE OK! I bet they are not, after 20 odd years of standing around you should replace them, they delaminate the same as the old brake shoes after a while and you will be getting a nose full of gravel if they choose to go off when you really need them, best advise "bite the bullet" and buy new as all your hard work will be undone if you get spat off for the price of a pair of pads. Just my thoughts on it you understand but are you really going to trust a pair of pads from 1994 if they really are 20 years old?

PS love the packing on the battery, reminds me of the late 1970s when you fitted what you could afford :biglaugha:

You may have a point there..I should consider replacing them.
Yea couldn't get original size battery so just cut up the box to get it to fit snug in there. :babyha:

Thanks Airhead..was considering some red paint and a very fine brush. Black polish also always works well.

Having fun with brakes today..started another thread as after 2 hours of pumping was getting no joy out of bleeding the brakes and started wondering about condition of master cylinder. I still needed to push one caliper`s piston out to change seals. After leaving awhile fluidseemed to find its way through and things started working..it also helped I think to remove bleed screws completely when pumping. So one side has new seals..will do remaining side tomorrow and bleed again.
